  • The Volunteer Guardian needs to have at least two contacts monthly with the Ward.
  • If the Ward is in a nursing home, the Volunteer Guardian is encouraged to attend the quarterly care conference for the Ward, either in person or by teleconference.
  • As issues/concerns arise, the Volunteer Guardian can contact the UCVGP Executive Director with questions or concerns. The UCVGP staff is on call, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Guardianship stops at the death of the ward. Volunteer Guardians often attend the funeral of their Ward, to pay their respects to the Ward and to acknowledge feelings of loss. The UCVGP Executive Director often attends with the Volunteer Guardian to lend support.
